Manchester United Player Ratings
Senne Lammens – The young Belgian shot-stopper had a relatively quiet afternoon at the Theatre of Dreams. He was left completely exposed for Barkley’s powerful strike and could do little to prevent it. Aside from one comfortable save late in the game, his primary contribution was reliable distribution under little pressure. 6
Diogo Dalot – A game of “what if” for the Portuguese fullback, who squandered a massive opportunity in the first half by failing to keep a half-volley down. However, he redeemed his performance with several dangerous deliveries from the right flank that constantly troubled the Villa backline. 6
Leny Yoro – The teenage sensation continues to justify his price tag with a composed and physically imposing display. His highlight was a perfectly timed sliding challenge to thwart Ollie Watkins just before the interval. He looked dominant in the air and appears to be adapting rapidly to the league’s physicality. 8
Harry Maguire – A disciplined showing from the veteran, who was preferred for his ball-playing ability. He was proactive in carrying the ball out of the defensive third during the first half and stood his ground well when Danny Abraham tried to turn the game into a physical battle. 7
Luke Shaw – Reliable as ever on the left, Shaw provided a constant outlet during the opening exchanges. While Leon Bailey offered a few tricky moments on the wing, Shaw’s experience shone through, maintaining a solid defensive shape while supporting the attack. 7
Casemiro – The Brazilian midfield general was the heart of United’s success today. After being rested recently, he looked completely rejuvenated, opening the scoring with a clinical header and playing a vital role in the buildup to the subsequent goals. A truly world-class shift. 9
Kobbie Mainoo – The academy graduate showed wisdom beyond his years, particularly in a cagey first half. He was the most composed presence in the middle of the park, keeping the ball moving efficiently and ensuring United didn’t lose their rhythm during Villa’s periods of pressure. 7
Amad – Restored to the starting lineup, the young winger showed flashes of brilliance and delicate footwork. However, he struggled to find the final product or maintain a sustained threat throughout the ninety minutes, occasionally drifting out of the game’s main flow. 6
Bruno Fernandes – A virtuoso performance from the captain. Fernandes moved to a staggering 16 assists for the season, providing a perfect corner for the opener and a sublime, visionary through-ball for Cunha’s goal. He remains the most influential playmaker in the division. 9
Matheus Cunha – The Brazilian was a constant thorn in Villa’s side, initially causing chaos with his crossing from the left before showing elite striker instincts to race through and tuck away United’s second goal. His movement between the lines was exceptional. 8
Bryan Mbeumo – It was a frustrating outing for Mbeumo, who struggled to find his range in the first half with a wild effort. While he forced a save from Martinez after the break, he never quite looked in sync with the rest of the attacking unit. 6
Substitute
Benjamin Sesko – Despite the tactical decision to start him on the bench, Sesko proved his value as a “super-sub.” He added a different dimension to the attack upon his introduction and showed great predatory instinct to net the third goal, effectively killing off the contest. 7
