Manuel Neuer plans to decide on a new Bayern Munich contract later in the season and has once again ruled out a return to the German national team.
According to a report from BayernStrikes.com, veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has provided an update on his contract situation at Bayern Munich, indicating he will not rush into a new deal despite ongoing speculation.
The 39-year-old goalkeeper, who is set to turn 40 during the Rückrunde, spoke to the media following the club’s recent 3-1 win against St. Pauli.
Neuer’s update comes after a “disappointing week” which saw the Bavarian club suffer their first defeat of the season against Arsenal in the Champions League, where Neuer “committed an error in Arsenal’s third goal.”
Despite the setback, Neuer stated that his future will be determined by his well-being and performance later in the campaign.
“The crucial factor will be how I feel. We’ll see in the second half of the season. I’ll think about it more towards March during the international break.”
The club is reportedly supportive, though they have already identified Jonas Urbig as the long-term successor, with the young keeper getting minutes in the DFB Pokal this season.
The report confirms that the two parties will collectively make a call on his future during the Rückrunde.
