The sacking of Ruben Amorim has cast doubt on Marcus Rashford’s permanent move to Barcelona, potentially offering the forward a path back to Manchester United.
Manchester United’s decision to sack Ruben Amorim has opened the door for Marcus Rashford to revive his career at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old forward is currently on loan at Barcelona after falling out of favor under Amorim’s rigid standards.
While the England star has expressed a strong desire to stay in Spain permanently, the managerial change in Manchester creates a new dynamic for his long-term future.
The rift between player and manager became public last year. Amorim previously stated, “I couldn’t get Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it.”
Despite scoring three goals in his first six games under the coach, Rashford was eventually sent to Aston Villa on loan before joining Barcelona.
Amorim insisted the friction wasn’t personal, noting he had to apply the same rules to everyone.
While Rashford recently told Sport, “Of course what I want is to stay at Barca,” a permanent move is not yet guaranteed.
Barcelona is reportedly seeking to negotiate a fee lower than the agreed £26 million buy option due to financial constraints.
With his United contract running until 2028 and his primary antagonist now gone, the academy graduate may find himself back in the Red Devils’ plans next season.
