Maresca on Bournemouth frustration, Delap injury, Chelsea costs

Enzo Maresca is demanding a better performance from his Chelsea side against Bournemouth, citing the Leeds loss as a lesson learned while confirming Cole Palmer is ready to start despite ongoing fitness management.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca emphasized the need for a major response against Bournemouth, expecting a highly challenging fixture.

He said, “Bournemouth will be a similar game to Leeds, that is why we need to be better.”

Reflecting on the midweek defeat, he stated, “We did many things bad. Probably we also paid the bill to play one hour with ten players against Arsenal,” and confirmed the loss was not simply due to a lack of experience.

Maresca confirmed that star player Cole Palmer is fit to start, though he is unsure of a full 90 minutes, saying, “I don’t know [if he can play] 90 minutes, but Cole is ready to play from the start.”

He added that Moisés Caicedo is suspended and Romeo Lavia is sidelined with a muscular injury.

The coach’s main priority is improving the team and correcting the tactical errors seen against Leeds United.
