Martin Ødegaard opens up on latest knee injury scare

Martin Odegaard expressed hope that his knee injury is “not too bad” after an over-extension during Arsenal’s draw with Brentford left him sidelined for recent training sessions.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has offered a cautious update after sustaining a knee injury during Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Brentford.

The midfielder suffered the “pinch” while attempting to clear the ball, an incident that left him visibly limping after the match.

Despite the initial pain, Odegaard remains optimistic, stating: “I was able to carry on, but on Friday morning it was very sore, so I was worried of course, but thankfully it looks like it’s not too bad.”

The injury comes at a precarious time for Mikel Arteta, with key players like Kai Havertz and Mikel Merino already sidelined.

Odegaard missed training on Saturday and remains a doubt for today’s FA Cup fourth-round clash against Wigan Athletic.

Describing the moment of impact, he noted: “I tried to clear the ball as it came down, but instead kicked into the player a bit, and ended up over-stretching my leg, which pinched the knee.”
