Kylian Mbappé remains with France for World Cup qualifiers despite an ankle injury, with Deschamps assuring it’s “not that serious.”
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé will remain with the France national team despite concerns over an ankle injury sustained during the weekend win against Villarreal. The 26-year-old was assessed upon arrival at Clairefontaine, and team doctors ruled the injury not serious enough for him to withdraw from Les Bleus’ squad for matches against Azerbaijan and Iceland.
According to Marca, Mbappé has yet to participate in full training, opting instead for individual recovery sessions. He remains doubtful for Friday’s clash with Azerbaijan, though Real Madrid are not expecting him to return early.
France coach Didier Deschamps played down fears, saying, “He had a small discomfort, but it’s not that serious. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be here today.”
Los Blancos will hope Mbappé is fully fit before El Clásico in less than three weeks, as his recovery remains closely watched.
