Kylian Mbappé scored four goals and Vinicius Junior assisted twice as Real Madrid overcame Olympiacos 4-3 in a Champions League thriller, ending their winless streak despite injury challenges.
Real Madrid Player Performances and Ratings vs. Olympiacos
Real Madrid secured a crucial 4–3 victory against Olympiacos, snapping a three-game winless spell, with the attack funneled heavily through the left side of the pitch.
The following are the player ratings for Xabi Alonso’s starting XI in the Champions League match, as provided by FotMob.
GK: Andriy Lunin — 7.0
The goalkeeper’s solid work between the posts was unfortunately overshadowed by the underwhelming distribution and service coming out from the back line.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold — 6.5
The right-back was culpable for the host’s second goal, displaying poor marking inside the box which allowed Olympiacos to equalize. He had very little to do defensively otherwise, given that Real Madrid’s offense primarily operated down the opposite flank.
CB: Raúl Asencio — 6.7
Asencio was occasionally sloppy in possession, carelessly handling the ball at times. However, he successfully counterbalanced these mistakes with his strong physical presence and robust defending.
CB: Álvaro Carreras — 6.9
Playing out of his natural position, Carreras delivered a respectable performance for most of the match. His concentration and effectiveness faded in the latter stages, particularly once Asencio was no longer on the pitch to provide cover.
LB: Ferland Mendy — 7.2
Mendy performed well in his first appearance in seven months. He was reliable defensively and demonstrated some attacking flair in the final third, though he will be disappointed that he failed to properly close down Martins in the sequence leading up to Taremi’s goal.
DM: Aurélien Tchouaméni — 7.6
Returning to the starting lineup following an injury spell, the French midfielder performed with very few errors. Tchouaméni was a consistent presence in midfield and was unlucky to be denied a goal when his strike rattled the crossbar.
DM: Eduardo Camavinga — 8.0
Camavinga was stellar in the first half, contributing an assist and dominating his defensive assignments, winning seven of eight duels. He was required to be substituted at halftime after suffering from an illness.
RW: Federico Valverde — 7.1
It was a quiet evening for Valverde. He spent much of the game isolated on the right wing in open space, as the vast majority of Real Madrid’s offensive focus and attacking sequences were concentrated on the left side of the field.
AM: Arda Güler — 7.4
Güler delivered what was arguably his best showing in some time. With Jude Bellingham absent from the start, he stepped up to direct the attacking flow, finding significant success in linking up with Kylian Mbappé.
LW: Vinicius Junior — 9.0
The winger was sensational on the left flank. Vinicius Junior completely dominated his fellow countryman Rodinei throughout the contest, utilizing his superior pace, precise skill, and absolute control of the ball to repeatedly beat the fullback.
ST: Kylian Mbappé — 9.9
Mbappé was simply unstoppable. He appeared poised to score with every touch, registering all four of his side’s goals, including the second-fastest Champions League hat-trick in history. Olympiacos was fortunate that he did not score more.
