Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits the club’s six-year wait for silverware has been hard to endure as he prepares his Premier League leaders for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta described Arsenal’s trophy drought as “difficult to accept” ahead of tomorrow’s Carabao Cup final.
Seeking their first silverware since 2020, the Gunners face Manchester City at Wembley. Arteta, who boasts a perfect eight-game winning record at the stadium, remains hungry for success.
“When you have been in this position and gone years without winning a trophy, obviously it adds more necessity,” he stated.
Despite Arsenal’s nine-point lead in the Premier League, Arteta dismissed claims his side are favorites against his former mentor, Pep Guardiola.
The Spaniard emphasized the drive within his squad to secure the first leg of a potential quadruple.
“I want to win every competition that I’m involved in,” Arteta added, noting that the opportunity to end the 2,059-day wait is a “defining moment.”
