Morecambe FC has terminated its relationship with takeover figure Gurpreet Singh Rehal. The UK government froze Rehal’s assets after accusing him of supporting Babbar Khalsa, a proscribed Sikh militant group in India. This accusation includes promoting, recruiting for, and providing financial services to the organization.
Both Morecambe and Panjab Warriors, the club’s owner, issued a joint statement confirming the immediate removal of Rehal’s association, citing “recent serious concerns.” The Independent Football Regulator announced it would “urgently” assess the situation, prompting questions about due diligence.
