CAF President Patrice Motsepe has pledged to implement the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s upcoming decision regarding Senegal’s appeal against being stripped of their 2026 Africa Cup of Nations title.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe confirmed Sunday that the organization will abide by the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s ruling on the 2026 AFCON final dispute.
The controversy stems from a decision to overturn Senegal’s 1-0 victory against hosts Morocco, awarding the latter a 3-0 win instead.
Speaking in Cairo, Motsepe emphasized his neutrality, stating: “I will respect and implement the CAS decision. My personal opinion regarding the matter is irrelevant.”
The dispute follows chaotic scenes in Rabat where Senegalese players briefly walked off after a controversial penalty was awarded to Morocco.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Senegal recently paraded the trophy during a friendly in Paris.
In a separate move, Motsepe announced Nigeria-born Samson Adamu as caretaker general secretary following the retirement of Veron Mosengo-Omba, aiming to stabilize the administration amid recent internal and external criticism.
