Former Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has revealed Erik ten Hag’s brutal two-word response when he approached him for contract talks.
Bishop, now with AFC Wimbledon, said he had prepared for weeks to speak with the Dutchman about his future at Old Trafford. “I needed to go and speak to Erik about the contract I had been offered,” Bishop said on the Beyond The Box podcast.
After summoning the courage to knock on Ten Hag’s office door, Bishop recalled, “He opens it. ‘Not today.’ Shuts door. I was just stood outside of the door and was like, ‘what the f*** do I do now?’”
Ten Hag’s uncompromising style was also felt by Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, both of whom clashed with him before leaving Manchester United under strained circumstances.
