Newcastle Makes €74M Bid for Sesko, Rivaling Man Utd in Transfer Battle

Manchester United faces stiff competition from Newcastle in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. While United has already bolstered its attack with the additions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, they are reportedly aiming for at least three more signings, including a center-forward.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle is emerging as the frontrunner, preparing a significant contract offer and a substantial bid for Sesko. Romano suggests that for clubs Sesko considers ‘special,’ the price could reach €70-80 million plus add-ons. Newcastle’s opening bid is reported by Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna to be in the range of €72-74 million.

Despite reports suggesting Sesko prefers a move to Manchester United, Newcastle’s aggressive approach makes them the ‘most serious contenders,’ according to Aouna. Aouna highlights Newcastle’s need for a striker after missing out on other targets this summer. This includes their failure to sign Ekitike, who joined Liverpool, and losing out to Manchester City for goalkeeper James Trafford.

The situation remains fluid, with Manchester United planning to discuss a potential Sesko deal next week. However, Newcastle’s substantial financial commitment and their determination to secure Sesko could ultimately sway the outcome of this high-stakes transfer battle.
