Newcastle United to be without up to Nine players out for Chelsea clash

Eddie Howe has confirmed that defender Tino Livramento is a major doubt for Newcastle’s upcoming match against Chelsea after suffering a “worrying” knee injury during their midweek cup win over Fulham.

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has expressed serious concern over a fresh injury to Tino Livramento following the club’s Carabao Cup victory over Fulham.

The versatile full-back was forced off in the 76th minute with a suspected knee problem, sparking fears of a lengthy layoff.

Speaking on the setback, Howe admitted, “Tino’s injury is the big negative. We don’t know but it’s not looking good. It looks like a knee problem.”

The injury comes at a precarious time for the Magpies as they prepare to host Chelsea in a pivotal Premier League fixture.

Livramento’s absence would deepen a defensive crisis, with Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier, and Sven Botman already ruled out.

Reflecting on the player’s reaction, Howe noted the worrying nature of the substitution, stating, “He had to come off, and he’s such an honest, dependable lad. That sends worrying signs, really.”

Despite the blow, there is cautious optimism regarding fellow full-back Lewis Hall, who missed the midweek action due to hamstring tightness.

Howe remains hopeful that Hall could return to face his former club, noting, “Lewis, we’re more positive on. He has a chance for Chelsea.”

Additionally, midfielder Joelinton is expected to be available in some capacity as Newcastle look to close the gap on the top four despite their mounting injury list.
