Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, Neymar, has expressed deep sadness after being omitted from Carlo Ancelotti’s latest squad for friendlies against France and Croatia, as the legendary forward faces a race against time to prove his fitness before the final World Cup roster is decided.
Neymar has broken his silence following his exclusion from the Seleção’s upcoming friendlies in the United States.
Despite scoring twice in recent appearances for Santos, head coach Carlo Ancelotti has prioritized physical readiness over reputation, stating, “Neymar is not at 100 percent and therefore he is not on the list.”
The 34-year-old admitted his disappointment at a Kings League event, saying, “Obviously, I’m disappointed and sad not to have been selected.”
The clock is ticking for the veteran star, with Ancelotti set to name his final World Cup squad on May 19.
While Brazil tests new talents like Endrick and Igor Thiago against elite European opposition, Neymar remains focused on a “romantic comeback” for what could be his final tournament.
Reflecting on his future, he added: “That’s up to the coaching staff to decide, and of course, whether I’m there or not, I will always support the national team.”
