NFF dismisses concerns over official appointments for Nigeria-Morocco semi-final

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has moved to address public anxiety following the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to appoint Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea and South African VAR chief Abongile Tom for the Super Eagles’ semi-final against Morocco.

Despite the historical rivalries between Nigeria and these nations, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau expressed full confidence in the integrity of the officiating crew, stating, “I do not have the same fears of the match officials being biased as some people have.”

Gusau pointed to previous successful experiences in Morocco to reassure supporters, noting that “the officials know that CAF as well as the whole world are watching, and will not do anything untoward.”

This stance aligns with Morocco coach Walid Regragui’s earlier comments, as both camps attempt to shift the focus away from “conspiracy theorists” and back to the pitch for Wednesday’s high-stakes showdown in Rabat.
