Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is in mourning after his father, Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, tragically lost his life in a road accident in Delta State.
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is mourning the tragic death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, following a fatal road accident in Umunede, Delta State.
The retired military officer was rushed to a hospital in Agbor but was later confirmed dead. This loss comes just weeks after Ndidi led Nigeria to a bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Ndidi’s club, Turkish side Besiktas, confirmed the news in a statement, saying:
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident.
May Allah grant mercy to the deceased; we extend our condolences to our footballer Wilfred Ndidi, his family, and loved ones.” Tributes continue to pour in for the midfielder.
