Contrary to widespread social media reports, Nigeria are not the first country to attend the Africa Cup of Nations without supporters, Soccernet.ng can exclusively report.
The All Supporters Club of Nigeria has firmly debunked viral social media reports claiming the Super Eagles are competing at AFCON 2025 without official fans.
Deputy President Alhaji Alao addressed the “fake news” circulating on platforms like Instablog, confirming that many supporters are already in Morocco.
He stated: “That news is a big lie. I am the Deputy President of the All Supporters Club, and I am here in Morocco.”
Logistical hurdles, rather than a lack of fans, caused the visible absence of the iconic Nigerian drum bands during the opening victory over Tanzania.
Alhaji Alao explained that ticketing issues prevented many band members from entering the stadium.
Clarifying the situation, he noted: “The situation was due to logistical challenges surrounding ticketing and seating arrangements for the band boys, not the absence of supporters.”
To resolve these issues, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has stepped in to sponsor the travel of 18 band members across various groups.
These drummers and trumpeters are expected to arrive in Fes ahead of Saturday’s critical clash with Tunisia.
Alao assured fans of a vibrant atmosphere, saying: “For the next game, we promise everybody will be in the stadium — including the band boys.”
