Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has praised Nottingham Forest’s fighting spirit and resilience, acknowledging them as a difficult opponent for any team in the league.
Pressure continues to mount on Ange Postecoglou after Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday left the Australian still searching for his first win.
Postecoglou, appointed on 9 September to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, has overseen five defeats and two draws in all competitions. Second-half goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade extended Forest’s poor run at St James’ Park.
The 59-year-old had already faced chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning” from supporters during Thursday’s Europa League loss to FC Midtjylland. Reports before the Newcastle trip suggested Forest would review his position during the international break if results failed to improve.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis, who dismissed Carlos Corberan after just 11 games at Olympiacos, must now decide on Postecoglou’s future.
Asked about speculation, Postecoglou replied: “I knew I was getting sacked at Tottenham three or four months before I did. It didn’t stop me winning something. It doesn’t enter my head.”
