Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has jokingly criticized captain Bernardo Silva for not personally informing him of his future plans, despite widespread expectations that the midfielder will depart the club this summer.
Pep Guardiola addressed the mounting speculation surrounding Bernardo Silva’s future, jokingly claiming he was “fuming” that the midfielder has kept him in the dark.
While assistant Pep Lijnders recently hinted a summer exit was certain, Guardiola insisted no official decision has reached his desk.
“I’m so grumpy with Bernardo because a month ago I said ‘if you take a decision I have to be the first to [know]’,” Guardiola remarked.
The City boss was full of praise for his skipper’s nine-year tenure, labeling him an “incredible signing” who thrived on the biggest stages.
Although Silva has been linked with moves away for several seasons, he has yet to confirm his next step publicly.
“He’s going to decide his decision when he is going to decide and announce to the club, to the media, and everyone,” Guardiola added.
