Pep Guardiola changes tune on Man City’s title race hopes after Arsenal steal march

Pep Guardiola has insisted Manchester City’s title defense remains alive after a 1-1 draw with West Ham left them trailing league leaders Arsenal by nine points with a game in hand.

Pep Guardiola has performed a swift U-turn on Manchester City’s title prospects following a frustrating 1-1 draw at West Ham.

Despite previously claiming “if we drop points, it will be over,” the Spaniard struck a defiant tone after former Gunner Konstantinos Mavropanos canceled out Bernardo Silva’s opener.

“No, it’s not over. We didn’t lose. We continue,” Guardiola told TNT Sports from the stands.

City’s recent dip coincides with a goal drought for Erling Haaland, who missed several key chances in London.

Guardiola admitted the team’s reliance on the Norwegian, stating, “Erling, we need his goals… He will be back.”

The champions now face a pivotal week, hosting Real Madrid in the Champions League before meeting Arsenal at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final.
