Victor Osimhen produced a scintillating hat-trick as Nigeria stormed to a 4–0 victory over Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, sealing a playoff spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers.
Eric Chelle’s men came into the encounter knowing only a win would keep their qualification hopes alive—and they responded emphatically. Just three minutes into the game, Osimhen latched onto a perfectly timed pass from Samuel Chukwueze to fire Nigeria ahead.
The pair combined again in the 37th minute as the Fulham winger teed up Osimhen for his second of the night.After the break, Osimhen completed his hat-trick, heading home from Moses Simon’s pinpoint free-kick.
The Napoli striker’s relentless energy and clinical finishing proved decisive. Frank Onyeka added a fourth late on, smashing home from close range after a brilliant assist by Simon.
