Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Fer López is on the verge of completing a return to Spain after being spotted at Santiago Airport ahead of a scheduled medical with Celta Vigo on Monday morning.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who joined Wolves from the Galician side last June, has struggled for game time at Molineux, prompting his agent, Jorge Mendes, to negotiate a loan deal until the end of the season.
Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giráldez had previously identified the youngster as his priority January target to bolster his midfield options, telling reporters:
“Fer gives me peace of mind because he’s easy to adapt to. He plays as a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a winger, and he has the ability to play high, low, build attacks, and finish.”
Once the medical and contract formalities are finalized, López is expected to be eligible for Celta’s weekend fixture against Getafe, though he will remain unregistered for their midweek Europa League clash.
