Premier League to launch Netflix style service in Singapore

The Premier League is launching a standalone streaming service called “Premier League Plus” in Singapore, marking the first time the league will broadcast all 380 matches directly to its own customers.

The Premier League has announced the launch of “Premier League Plus,” a new Netflix-style streaming platform debuting exclusively in Singapore this August.

This landmark move allows the league to bypass traditional broadcasters, offering live coverage of all 380 matches directly to fans.

CEO Richard Masters stated, “From next season onward, from August, Premier League Plus is going to happen,” as the organization seeks new digital revenue.

This pilot program represents the first time the league will manage its own subscriber base. Masters explained,

“For the first time the Premier League is going to have its own customers. We’re looking to build a business, but we’re also looking to learn to see how that might be replicable around the world.”

If successful, the model could eventually revolutionize international sports broadcasting.
