Paris Saint-Germain vice-captain Achraf Hakimi has been ordered to stand trial for rape following a long-term investigation by French prosecutors, an allegation the Moroccan international strongly denies.
Paris Saint-Germain defender and Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi is set to face trial for rape, according to reports confirmed on Tuesday.
The Nanterre prosecutor’s office initially opened an investigation in 2023 following accusations made against the footballer.
While the formal trial order marks a significant escalation in the legal proceedings, Hakimi has maintained his innocence throughout the process, asserting that the claims are entirely unfounded.
Responding to the news on social media, Hakimi expressed frustration with the judicial decision despite his denials.
He stated: “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false.”
The defender added that he “calmly await[s] this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly,” as he prepares to defend his reputation in court.
