Raheem Sterling and Chelsea end relationship on mutual consent

Raheem Sterling has left Chelsea as a free agent after reaching a mutual agreement to terminate his contract following a prolonged period out of the first-team squad.

Raheem Sterling has officially departed Chelsea by mutual consent, bringing an early end to his five-year contract.

The 31-year-old winger had 18 months remaining on his £325,000-a-week deal but had not featured for the club since May 2024.

After training away from the first team, the club confirmed his exit, stating: “We thank Raheem for the contribution he made while a Chelsea player.”

The England international, who arrived from Manchester City for £47.5 million in 2022, is now a free agent.

Despite an underwhelming loan spell at Arsenal last season, Sterling is reportedly keen to remain in London but is open to opportunities abroad.

His departure marks the end of a turbulent period under multiple managers, having failed to fit into current head coach Enzo Maresca’s tactical plans.
