Chelsea and England winger Raheem Sterling was the victim of a second attempted home break-in by masked men at his Berkshire residence last Saturday night while he and his children were inside, although they were reported to be unharmed.
According to a report from Goal UK, Chelsea player Raheem Sterling’s Berkshire home was the target of an attempted break-in by masked men last weekend, marking the second time in the last three years the winger has been targeted.
The attempted burglary is believed to have occurred at around 6:30pm last Saturday night at a development on Crown Estate land, to the west of London.
This timing was just before Chelsea were due to face Wolves in the Premier League, though Sterling was at home as he has not been part of the Blues’ squad this season.
Sterling was reportedly in the house alongside his long-term partner and their three children when the masked men attempted to gain entry. The intruders were ultimately disturbed and fled before they could steal any valuables.
A spokesperson representing Sterling issued a statement to the Daily Telegraph confirming the distressing details:
“We can confirm that Raheem Sterling was the victim of a home break-in this weekend. We can also confirm that he and his children were present at home at the time.
Whilst the ultimate violation of privacy and safety, we are thankful to be able to confirm that he and his loved ones are all safe. We ask that the privacy of Raheem and his loved ones be respected at this challenging time.”
This incident follows a previous break-in at Sterling’s former house in Surrey at the end of 2022 during the World Cup in Qatar, an event which forced him to urgently leave the England camp.
Thames Valley Police have launched a “thorough investigation” into the recent incident.
