Ramos’ stoppage-time goal gives PSG dramatic win over Barcelona

Gonçalo Ramos struck in stoppage time to hand PSG a 2-1 Champions League win over Barcelona despite a host of injury absences.

Gonçalo Ramos scored a stoppage-time winner as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Barcelona 2-1 in their Champions League clash at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Barcelona struck first when Ferran Torres slid in Marcus Rashford’s low cross on 19 minutes. Rashford, who has now scored or assisted in five of the Catalans’ last six games, was again central to their attacking play.

However, PSG equalized before halftime. Nuno Mendes broke down the left and set up 19-year-old Senny Mayulu, who calmly slotted home his second Champions League goal, following his strike in last season’s final in Munich.

The French champions, missing several key players including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, captain Marquinhos and midfielder Joao Neves, created the better second-half chances. Substitute Lee Kang-in struck the post before Ramos converted Achraf Hakimi’s cross in the 90th minute.

The result gives PSG six points from two group games, while Barcelona remain on three.

PSG, who won last season’s treble by thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final, again demonstrated their depth and resilience under former Barca coach Luis Enrique.

Barcelona impressed early through Rashford and teenage star Lamine Yamal, but the visitors’ relentless full-backs proved decisive.

Hakimi, provider of the winning goal, was named player of the match with an average fan rating of 7.55.
