Real Madrid add new name to managerial shortlist as Alvaro Arbeloa doubts continue

Real Madrid have reportedly added France head coach Didier Deschamps to their managerial shortlist as the club prepares to replace Alvaro Arbeloa following a disappointing campaign.

Real Madrid are considering Didier Deschamps as a primary candidate to take over the managerial reins this summer.

With Alvaro Arbeloa unlikely to remain after a trophy-less season, club bosses are exploring alternatives to Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino.

Deschamps, who will leave the French national team following the 2026 World Cup, is reportedly keen to return to club football after a fourteen-year absence.

The 57-year-old’s existing relationships with stars like Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni make him an attractive option for Florentino Pérez.

However, the appointment carries risks as Deschamps has not managed at the club level since 2012.

Despite these concerns, Deschamps is viewed as someone who can “command an egocentric dressing room,” offering the authoritative leadership required to stabilize the team after two difficult seasons.
