Giovanni Reyna spearheaded the USMNT to a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Paraguay, delivering a performance that showcased both individual brilliance and the team’s burgeoning chemistry on the pitch.
In a spirited international friendly, the United States Men’s National Team secured a 2-1 victory over Paraguay, showing determination and flair under pressure.
According to a report from Sports Illuminated, Gio Reyna marked his return by scoring early — his first ever header for his country — and later played a pivotal role in the winning goal by teeing up his teammate in the 70th-minute mark.
Paraguay responded swiftly to go level in the 10th minute via a header by Álex Arce following a defensive lapse from the U.S. back line.
While the match featured tactical exchanges and probing attacks from both sides, the U.S. defence held firm after the equalizer and Reyna’s contribution helped push the visitors back on track.
The encounter also ended on a sour note as a benches-clearing altercation broke out in stoppage time, resulting in a red card for Paraguay’s Omar Alderete and a yellow for the U.S.’s Cristian Roldán.
With the win, the United States extend their unbeaten run and take a meaningful step forward in their preparations ahead of the next major tournament.
