The future of Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona has been a source of ongoing speculation, particularly as his contract approaches its expiry date at the end of the season.
The high wages of the Polish striker, who will be turning 38 when the next campaign begins, led many to assume he would leave as a free agent in the summer.
However, according to reports in Poland, as relayed by SPORT, the 37-year-old has communicated through his agent, Pini Zahavi, that he is “fully willing to continue for one more year under different economic and sporting conditions.”
This means the superstar is “prepared to reduce his salary and take on a more secondary role if necessary” to extend his time with the Blaugrana.
Despite Lewandowski’s eagerness to stay, nothing has been formally discussed or decided, with details expected to be addressed during the first months of 2026.
Barcelona sporting director Deco has maintained that Lewandowski “understands how football works,” stressing that the club’s decision hinges on the striker’s performance, physical condition, and financial feasibility.
While Lewandowski’s priority is to remain at Barça, several clubs have already contacted him since he can negotiate with any team starting in January.
AC Milan and some Premier League clubs have shown concrete interest.
The ball is now entirely in Barcelona’s court to decide whether to retain the seasoned campaigner for another year or pursue a new, top-level striker replacement.
