Cristiano Ronaldo, in a new interview with Piers Morgan, criticizes Manchester United’s flawed structure and believes any manager, including Ruben Amorim, is destined to struggle, despite recent results.
Cristiano Ronaldo has once again launched a scathing critique of Manchester United’s hierarchy, claiming the current club structure is destined to cause manager Ruben Amorim to fail.
In a fresh interview with Piers Morgan, the Portugal international offered a detailed assessment of the ongoing struggles at his former club.
According to Mirror reporting, Ronaldo expressed deep sadness over the club’s plight, stating that United, “one of the most important clubs in the world,” continues to suffer due to a lack of proper foundational strategy.
Ronaldo argued that the club needs to follow the guidance of “intelligent people, smart people, to create a base for the future as Manchester United have [done] so many years ago.”
He then delivered a strong verdict on the current state of affairs, asserting: “So Manchester United right now, they don’t have a structure.”
Despite manager Ruben Amorim guiding the team to an unbeaten run of four Premier League games, Ronaldo suggested the former Sporting coach is fighting an uphill battle against systemic issues. When asked for his views on the manager, Ronaldo responded with a Portuguese proverb: “He’s doing his best.
What are you going to do? Miracles. Miracles is impossible. We say in Portugal, ‘Miracles is only in Fatima’… And he’s not gonna do miracles.”
He stressed that the problem goes beyond the personnel on the pitch, adding that while the team has good players, some “don’t have, some of them, in mind what Manchester United is.”
Ronaldo, who won multiple major titles at Old Trafford, confessed that seeing the club struggle “Of course, [it hurts]. Because I was there so many years…
Manchester United is still in my heart. I love that club. But we have all to be honest and look for ourselves and say, ‘Listen, they are not in a good path’. So, they need to change and it’s not only about the coach and players, in my opinion.”
