Cristiano Ronaldo has moved his family to Madrid after drone attacks on the US Embassy in Riyadh and the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader heightened security risks in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly departed Saudi Arabia for Madrid, Spain, following a sharp escalation in regional tensions.
On Tuesday, reports confirmed the 41-year-old’s £61 million Bombardier Global Express 6500 private jet left Riyadh at 8:00 pm, arriving in the Spanish capital early this morning.
The move comes as foreign nationals begin a mass exodus following a drone strike on the United States Embassy in Riyadh.
The Saudi Ministry of Defence confirmed that two drones struck the embassy, causing “minor material damage” and a “limited fire.”
This retaliation follows US-Israeli military strikes on February 28 that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
With the Asian Football Confederation postponing West Region fixtures and security fears rising, Ronaldo—who lives in Riyadh with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and five children—has opted for the safety of Europe.
