Roy Keane has expressed a desire for Michael Carrick to land the Manchester United job permanently following his impressive interim start, though he still insists the club could find a more experienced manager.
Roy Keane has surprisingly admitted he hopes Michael Carrick is named permanent Manchester United manager this summer, despite maintaining the club should target a higher-caliber coach.
Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast, the former captain acknowledged Carrick’s perfect start—notably victories over Manchester City and Arsenal—conceding,
“I hope they give it to him, I hope they give it to him in the summer.”
While offering his support, Keane remains skeptical about Carrick’s long-term ability to deliver major silverware at Old Trafford.
He warned that leading United to league titles is a “different animal” than serving as a caretaker, reiterating his belief that “you can get a better manager than Carrick.”
Nevertheless, he predicted United will secure a top-four finish under the interim boss’s current momentum.
