Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim plans to utilize the club’s academy by selling fringe youth players to generate “pure profit” for transfers, ensuring compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly focused on maximizing the value of the club’s academy to navigate Financial Fair Play and Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Amorim believes the academy is crucial, stating: “I think the future of our club is going to be the academy because, like you said, if you look at the biggest years with the most success was with the academy players.”
The Portuguese coach intends to sell academy players deemed “maybe not good enough” to generate transfer funds, noting that “if you sell a player from our academy, all the money you can use it to buy another.”
This strategy allows United to comply with financial regulations while retaining funds for first-team improvements, moving away from costly mass overhauls.
Amorim has promoted several young players but has faced criticism regarding his treatment of midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who is considering a loan move.
The coach indicated he is open to discussion, saying: “The team comes first and if Kobbie comes to me and talks to me, I will talk to him.”
