Mamadou Sarr is heading back to Strasbourg from Chelsea for the upcoming 2025-26 season, marking a swift return following his recent transfer.
Sarr's move to Chelsea in June saw the Blues shell out a reported £12m (€14m) to acquire the defender's services. He promptly signed an eight-year contract with the Premier League outfit, signaling a long-term commitment.
His debut for Chelsea came during the Club World Cup group stage match against ES Tunis. However, that was his only appearance during the tournament, and he did not feature again.
The 19-year-old defender first showcased his talents in Ligue 1 with Lyon during the 2022-23 season. Last year, he became a crucial component of Strasbourg, contributing significantly to their qualification for the Conference League.
During his time with Strasbourg, Sarr played in 27 league games, helping the team achieve a season-high of 10 clean sheets alongside goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. His defensive prowess was further highlighted by a 56.8% tackle success rate and a 51.5% duel win rate. Notably, he recorded 116 clearances, second only to Guela Doue's 148 for Strasbourg, solidifying his importance to the team's defensive setup.
