Scott Parker: Arsenal are more than just set pieces

Scott Parker dismisses the notion that Arsenal relies solely on set-pieces, highlighting their fluid play, strong defense, and overall well-coached approach ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash.

Burnley manager Scott Parker has firmly refuted the notion that Premier League leaders Arsenal rely solely on set-pieces for their success, insisting the team is far more comprehensive ahead of their clash at Turf Moor this Saturday.

According to Hayters reporting, while the Gunners have scored a notable nine goals from set-play situations this season, Parker believes this statistic overshadows the overall quality of Mikel Arteta’s side.

“I’m not sure I see it like that,” answered Parker when asked about the narrative of Arsenal relying on set-pieces. “When I’m watching them, to be honest with you, I see a fluid team really.”

The Englishman heaped praise on Arteta’s coaching and the defensive foundation built at the club.

“I see an unbelievably well-coached team. A team that solves situations,” he continued. “This is definitely not a team that just relies on set plays.”

Parker acknowledged the importance of set-play goals in decisive moments, but stressed that the league leaders possess numerous other strengths.

“This is a well-oiled team and a functional team that are very fluid in the way they play really. Defensively, like you say, is really a foundation,” Parker stated, adding: “But, yes, for me, like I said, this is a top, top team and a well-coached team.”

He concluded by giving “full credit to Mikel (Arteta)” for building a team that is “ticking a lot of boxes” across all facets of the game.
