Sean Dyche emerges as frontrunner for Nottingham Forest job

Sean Dyche is the leading candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest after the Australian’s record-short tenure came to an abrupt end.

Sean Dyche has emerged as the leading contender to become Nottingham Forest’s next manager following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days in charge.

Forest’s owner Evangelos Marinakis dismissed Postecoglou minutes after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, marking the shortest Premier League reign of any permanent manager in history. The former Tottenham boss lost all eight matches in charge across competitions.

talkSPORT reports that Forest and Dyche have already held talks, with discussions beginning even before Postecoglou’s exit. However, the former Burnley and Everton manager is understood to be seeking assurances beyond the current season before agreeing to take over.

Dyche, who began his playing career at Forest, told talkSPORT earlier that he missed “the day-to-day, working with the players and the staff,” but insisted he would only return for “the right job and the right timing.”

Former Italy and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has also been linked with the vacancy, with reports suggesting initial contact after Forest’s Europa League defeat to Midtjylland.

Forest, currently 18th in the Premier League, are also keeping an eye on Fulham’s Marco Silva as a long-term option, though his contract runs until 2026.

Postecoglou’s winless stint has left Forest reeling, as Marinakis looks to steady the club quickly before their next fixture.
