Sean Dyche criticized officiating and VAR failures as “unfathomable” following Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City.
Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche voiced his frustration following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the City Ground.
Despite an equaliser from Omari Hutchinson, a late goal by Rayan Cherki secured the win for the visitors.
Dyche centered his post-match comments on referee Rob Jones and the VAR, arguing that pivotal decisions—specifically a missed foul on Morgan Gibbs-White—directly influenced the final score.
The Forest boss remained incredulous regarding the lack of intervention on what he deemed clear officiating errors.
Dyche highlighted a specific sequence leading to City’s winner, stating: “Morgan Gibbs-White quite clearly gets pushed to the floor, and the same player is then involved in blocking the ball… Whichever way you look at it, it’s a foul.”
He also questioned why a second yellow card was not issued to a City player for a foul on Igor Jesus.
While Dyche praised his team’s performance, the result leaves Forest empty-handed despite limiting City to few clear chances.
Reflecting on the officiating standards, Dyche remarked: “It’s an awful thing when you have played so well to have to come in and talk about the officials affecting the game.
But they clearly did; everyone in the stadium and everyone watching at home would have seen that.”
