Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe lauded interim manager Michael Carrick’s “excellent job” at the Chinese Grand Prix but refused to confirm if the former midfielder is the long-term choice for the role.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has praised Michael Carrick’s interim tenure at Manchester United but declined to comment on a permanent appointment.
Speaking at the Shanghai International Circuit, the Ineos chief acknowledged Carrick’s impact since replacing Ruben Amorim, stating, “He’s doing an excellent job. Yeah, absolutely.”
Despite United’s surge toward Champions League qualification, Ratcliffe remained firm when asked about Carrick’s future prospects, simply asserting, “Not going there.”
The billionaire’s appearance follows a period of intense scrutiny regarding his controversial comments on UK immigration.
While Ratcliffe has since apologized, the club emphasized its commitment to being an “inclusive and welcoming” environment.
Carrick, who led United through a seven-game unbeaten run before a recent loss at Newcastle, defended the club’s values, stating, “I am proud of what the club stands for and has done for so long.”
