Liverpool will be without star goalkeeper Alisson Becker for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United as Arne Slot confirmed his absence at a press briefing.
Alisson sustained a hamstring injury and has not resumed training, so Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to continue in goal.
The injury setback comes at a critical moment, but Slot revealed encouraging updates in other areas. Ryan Gravenberch has been declared fully fit after his earlier fitness scare.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konaté is back training after recovering from a thigh issue and is expected to feature. Slot admitted: “Alisson … he is not training. It’s so difficult to say … but he will not play this weekend or next week.”
He also added: “Ryan [Gravenberch] is completely fit.” and “Konaté has come back to us and is expected to train today.”
Liverpool enter the fixture on a three-game losing streak and will be hoping the returns of Gravenberch and Konaté can help steady the side in Alisson’s absence.
