A preview of the UEFA Conference League qualifying match between Sparta Prague and Ararat-Armenia. Sparta Prague is predicted to win the match 3-0.
Next week, Sparta Prague and Ararat-Armenia will face off in the UEFA Conference League qualifying round. Stadion Letna in Prague will host the first leg of the third qualifying round match between the Czech First League club and the Armenian Premier League squad. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. UK time on Thursday.
Sparta Prague, one of the Czech Republic's biggest and most successful clubs, has a record 38 domestic league titles and three Mitropa Cups. In 1992, they advanced to the European Cup/UEFA Champions League semi-finals, and in 1973, they reached the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup semi-finals.
Brian Priske's team, however, had a terrible 2024–25 season. Sparta finished fourth in the Czech First League last season and must now compete in qualifiers to get to the UEFA Conference League group stage, which is essentially Europe's third-tier club competition behind the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
Sparta won the second qualifying round against Aktobe. After losing the first leg 2-1 on the road, the Czech Republic club defeated them 4-0 in front of their supporters to win the tie 5-2 on aggregate.
Ararat-Armenia is a young club founded in Yerevan in 2017. They have advanced steadily in recent years and now compete in the Armenian Premier League.
They had an excellent season last year, finishing second in the Armenian Premier League. Ararat-Armenia won the league in 2019 and 2020, and they want to win the Armenian title again this season.
Ararat-Armenia, who won the Armenian Cup in 2024 and the Armenian Supercup in 2019 and 2024, defeated FC Universitatea Cluj in the UEFA Conference League qualifying round last time. After a 0-0 home draw in the first leg, they won the second leg 2-1 on the road to go through 2-1 on aggregate.
