Tottenham Hotspur’s poor home form persisted after Aston Villa battled from behind to win 2–1 in north London. Rodrigo Bentancur gave Thomas Frank’s side an early lead, finishing from close range after Micky van de Ven’s header.
But Morgan Rogers levelled before halftime with a stunning 20-yard strike that left Guglielmo Vicario helpless.
Despite missing several key players, including Cristian Romero and James Maddison, Spurs failed to hold on as Emiliano Buendia came off the bench to score Villa’s winner in the 77th minute, curling home from the edge of the area after Lucas Digne’s assist.
The defeat ended Tottenham’s seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions and left them sixth in the Premier League. Villa, meanwhile, climbed to 10th after extending their unbeaten streak to eight matches across all competitions.
Randal Kolo Muani missed a golden chance to equalise in stoppage time, scooping over from close range.
