Thomas Tuchel admits he may have made an unfair decision with Trent Alexander-Arnold

Thomas Tuchel has publicly acknowledged that his decision to exclude Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold from the latest international squad could be viewed as “unfair” despite the player’s elite status.

England coach Thomas Tuchel has addressed the controversial omission of Trent Alexander-Arnold from the Three Lions squad, admitting the choice was difficult.

Despite the defender’s fitness and form at Real Madrid, Tuchel opted for Ben White, Tino Livramento, and Djed Spence, favoring players from previous camps.

As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, Tuchel stated, “It is just one decision. Maybe a difficult choice and perhaps, to a certain extent, evening an unfair one.”

The German tactician explained that Ben White’s recent performances in the League Cup and Champions League influenced the selection.

While acknowledging the “noise” created by leaving out a player of Alexander-Arnold’s quality, Tuchel maintained that the player must accept the tactical situation.

He noted, “I know what Trent can give us. When you leave a player like him out, it creates noise. We had a call, I explained the situation.”
