Thomas Tuchel is set to extend his contract as England manager until 2028, ending Manchester United’s hopes of luring him to Old Trafford after the World Cup.
Thomas Tuchel is expected to sign a contract extension with England, keeping him in charge through the 2028 European Championships.
The move delivers a significant blow to Manchester United, who had identified the German as a top target for the 2026/27 season.
Since his 2024 appointment, Tuchel has excelled, guiding the Three Lions to World Cup qualification with eight wins and eight clean sheets.
The FA is anticipated to confirm the deal before the upcoming Nations League draw. While United continue their search for a permanent successor to support interim boss Michael Carrick, Tuchel remains committed to the national side.
A source noted: “Tuchel is anticipated to prolong his tenure with the Three Lions past the World Cup… the manager has committed to remaining in post.”
