What Mikel Arteta said about Liverpool vs Man City after Arsenal beat Sunderland

Mikel Arteta confirmed he will watch Manchester City face Liverpool on Sunday but insists Arsenal’s current nine-point lead at the Premier League summit means nothing yet.

Arsenal bolstered their title ambitions with a 3-0 victory over Sunderland, temporarily extending their lead over Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Martin Zubimendi’s opener and a Viktor Gyokeres brace secured the win at the Emirates.

While fans hope Liverpool can halt City’s momentum at Anfield, Arteta remains grounded, shifting his immediate attention toward the upcoming challenge against Brentford to maintain their blistering domestic form.

The Gunners boss intends to enjoy the spectacle on Sunday while beginning tactical work for the next fixture.

“Yes, I’m going to have a beautiful dinner tonight,” Arteta said. “Tomorrow, I start to prepare Brentford because it’s going to be a really tough one and, in the meantime, for sure, I will be watching a big, big game.”

He added that the points gap means “nothing” currently.
