Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare has been subjected to online racist abuse, marking the third such incident in the Premier League this weekend alongside Wesley Fofana and Hannibal Mejbri.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have condemned the “abhorrent” racist abuse sent to striker Tolu Arokodare following Sunday’s defeat at Crystal Palace.
Arokodare shared screenshots of hateful messages received after a penalty miss, stating: “It’s still unbelievable to me that we’re playing in a time where people have so much freedom to communicate such racism without any consequences.”
He is the third player targeted this weekend.
The incident follows similar attacks on Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana and Burnley’s Hannibal Mejbri.
Fofana criticized the lack of progress, noting, “You create big campaigns against racism, but nobody actually does anything.”
Wolves are working with authorities to identify perpetrators, while anti-discrimination group Kick It Out insists social media companies must improve accountability.
A recent investigation found over 2,000 abusive posts sent during one weekend.
