Qatar secured multiple top positions in FIFA’s new committees, highlighting its growing role in international football administration.
FIFA has named several Qatari officials to high-ranking positions in its newly formed committees for the 2025–2029 cycle, reflecting growing international recognition of Qatar’s football administration. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, Minister of Sports and Honorary President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), was appointed as a FIFA Council member and delegate to the men’s national teams competitions committee.
QFA President Jassim bin Rashid al-Buenain was named Chairman of the FIFA Club Competitions Committee, while Salman Ahmed al-Ansari joined the Appeal Committee. Hani Taleb Ballan retained his post as Deputy Chairman of the Referees Committee, continuing his tenure since 2019. Mansoor Mohammed al-Ansari, QFA General-Secretary, was appointed to the Development Committee, and Fatima Ali al-Nuaimi joined the FIFA Media and Communications Committee.
The appointments underscore Qatar’s expanding influence in global football governance.
