Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie was allegedly threatened with a gun by his agent in London, prompting a police arrest and an ongoing investigation.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie was allegedly threatened with a gun by his agent in north London. The incident reportedly occurred on September 6 in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet, prompting a police response later that night.
A 31-year-old agent was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. The Metropolitan Police said officers were called at 11:14 p.m. after reports that “a man in his twenties had been threatened with a firearm,” adding that another man “had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual.” No injuries were reported, and the suspect has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the player involved was Udogie. “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further,” a club spokesperson said.
Udogie, 22, returned to action a week later and featured in Tottenham’s 4-0 Champions League win over Copenhagen.
