Former US President Donald Trump has made a surprising claim, taking credit for a White House visit by soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was in attendance at the White House in Washington D.C. on Tuesday night, as he sat down to dinner with US President Donald Trump and other notable figures, including Elon Musk, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook.
According to a report from Football España, the Real Madrid icon and Al-Nassr star was present as part of the Saudi delegation, following discussions between President Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman.
The President used the occasion to publicly acknowledge Ronaldo’s star power, highlighting its effect on his family life.
Ronaldo, who is a Saudi ambassador, received a mention in Trump’s speech that night, with the President explaining that the star’s presence scored him a win on a paternal level.
Trump stated: “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo, wherever Ronaldo is here. And Barron got to meet him, and I think he respects his father just a little bit more now. Just the fact that I introduced you, so thank you very much for being here, it’s an honour.”
Ronaldo’s attendance follows comments he made during an interview with Piers Morgan, as noted by Marca, where the star mentioned he would like to discuss world peace with Trump, whom he called ‘one of the men who can help change the world.’
He also previously declared: “In the world, no one is more famous than me.”
