Tuchel ‘not enjoying’ England job, linked with shock Premier League return

Scott Minto claims Thomas Tuchel is unhappy with the England job and could return to Premier League management after the 2026 World Cup.

Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto has suggested that England manager Thomas Tuchel is “not really particularly enjoying” his role and could return to club football after the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Matterface and Crook, Minto predicted that Tuchel’s stint with England may end next year, paving the way for a Premier League comeback—potentially at Manchester United. “I personally think (Ruben) Amorim will last until the end of the season, and I personally think Thomas Tuchel will take over,” he said.

Minto noted that Tuchel, used to the “day-to-day challenge” of club management, might be frustrated by the “stop-start” rhythm of international football. “He’s probably been a little bit surprised by what it’s like to be England manager. He’s used to testing himself against the best teams in the Champions League,” Minto added.

Tuchel, who signed an 18-month contract with the FA in October 2024, holds a record of six wins and one defeat as England boss. His future could hinge on England’s performance at the 2026 World Cup.
